EXERCISES
Week 1: Arranging Clips on Adobe Premiere Pro
To get familiarized with the basics of Adobe Premiere Pro, we
were told to download these clips of a Mints advertisement and
recombine them into a full proper clip.

After importing all the clips, I began dragging and dropping the
clips based on the number sequence that has already been
determined.

In the second editing exercise, it is almost similar to the first
except the sequence of the videos have been randomized. We were told
to watch the clips individually and piece them together so that they
flow smoothly like the original advertisement video.

Week 2: Shooting & Editing practise
In this week's lecture, we learned about the 7 angle shots through
the slides provided to us which included some example videos and
pictures. There were also detailed descriptions to help us further
understand how each shot is being framed.
After the lecture session, we were told to pair up and practise
shooting the different angle shots using our phones. We had to shoot
a landscape format video for about 5 seconds per shot. Once we have
gotten all the 8 shots, we have to import them to Adobe Premiere Pro
to compile together and then add the captions mentioning the shot
size.
Lalin Video Editing Practise
We were required to download the unedited footages of Lalin filmed by
our seniors and import them into Adobe Premiere Pro to trim and put
them in order.

While trimming and putting the footages in order, I had to rewatch
the original Lalin film to figure out which shot came first. For the
text messages, I realised that some of them were missing from the
original film, so I had to rearrange them in a way that made more
sense. I also added a notification sound whenever a message comes in
so that it is not too silent.

Week 3: "Lalin" and "Guang" 3-Act Structures
For this week's exercise, we were told to go through the lecture
notes to understand each of the acts and plot point definitions in a
3-Act Structure for a plot. Once we have established our
understanding, we were tasked to watch "Lalin" and "Guang" again to
determine the different acts, plot points and climax of the stories
respectively.
After listening and watching some videos about storyboarding in
this week's lecturer, we were tasked to rewatch "Support" and
screenshot all the different shots found in that scene. We were
required to specify which shot is it (medium close-up, close-up,
wide shot, etc.) and also write a short description describing what
we see in that shot.

After compiling the screenshots and specified which shot it is and
the description, I then created a simple floorplan to show the
possible positions of the different cameras setups to be able to
shoot those shots from the storyboard.
After watching the YouTube tutorials on how to do colour correction
using Lumetri Scopes, we were tasked to try it out on our edited 30s
clip of Lalin. It was a lot of adjusting and playing around with the
eye dropper to achieve white balance. Overall, it was not very
difficult to follow and it is mostly just adjusting the colours and
brightness until we are satisfied with it.
REFLECTION
After working on all of these exercises through this whole semester, I really feel that I learned a lot in terms of using the different editing softwares. It was a really fun module and I enjoyed exploring and making videos with the softwares. When I first started using Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects, I always struggled because it had so many panels and controls that I didn't know how to use. Overall, the lectures were very helpful and the class demos also were easy to follow.
