REFLECTION

Experience
Throughout the 13 weeks of working on this module, I have learned a lot from the lectures, feedback given and also my personal experience from completing the tasks. It was quite enjoyable, especially the process of coming up with sketches of our logos to watching it being finalised in a proper brand guideline. There were challenges faced during the process, but I believe that overcoming it was an achievement made after every task that I submitted. I loved that we were able to come up with our own business and brand, and we were free to design with no limit to our creativity. It was also an enjoyable experience to look at my peers' works and get inspired by what they have done. At first, it was a little embarrassing to show our work to the whole class, but I realised that there is a lot to learn from others too and sometimes they see things that we miss out.

Observations
While researching for the tasks in this module, I was able to observe the many existing brands and their logos and how they have been constructed with fine details. It was interesting to analyse the logos that we see everyday and break them down to look at how each component has been put together to form such a unified logo. As much as I was inspired by the existing logos, I was also determined to create a suitable logo for my own brand. It was a long process of squeezing out every single idea from my head onto my sketchpad, but when I look back at it, I was surprised at the amount of different variations I could make from one word. Nevertheless, this task has definitely exercised my creativity and I was more than happy to be able to sketch physically again.

Findings
While coming up with our brand profiles, I find that the identity of our brand is better communicated with proper rationale and suitable visuals. When I was writing the brand story, vision & mission, brand values, etc. I tried to immerse myself in the role of a business owner and imagined what kind of image I wanted my brand to have. I think that was an important step to help me structure my brand profile in a sound and concise manner. Furthermore, I also find that it is important to include short rationalisations in the visual guidelines so that it gives more meaning and history to the creation of the brand logo itself.
