FEEDBACK

Week 2
- When writing the different sections in the discussion, always refer back to the research questions for relevance
- Introduce minimalist tea packaging before discussing about the design elements
- Can start including visuals in the writing
- Quote data from past survey in the writing
- Begin on the writing for the first section

Week 3
- Refrain from using colloquial terms in research writings
- Discuss how minimalist concept reflects the feeling that consumers can relate to
- Find a supporting source and quote from author to backup the point on consumer's perception
- Start structuring the research paper accordingly

Week 6
Critical Review
- Refer to Literature Review Notes on how to convert Critical Review
- Maintain the sub-topics, remove the critical parts and instead provide summary and main findings for each paper.

Research Methodology
- Change to past tense
- Include short intro for each section
- Mention that a sample of survey questionnaire can be found in appendix
- Avoid using first person POV
- Visual Analysis should be placed under Results & findings
- Justify choice of brands and what to study for Visual Analysis

Discussion
- 5.1 needs to indicate what the section addresses (which RQ?)
- Change the order of citation (as cited in...)
- The main design elements have been well established and maintained, supported by secondary resources with structured analysis of the minimalist packaging design.

- 5.2 needs to indent the primary data (quotations)
- Lessen the quotations (those that are repetitive or too general)
- Wrap up each design element with a secondary research

Next week:
- To show roundup with secondary literature after each section in 5.2
- To show 6.0 Conclusion

Week 7
Conclusion
- Describe the conclusion drawn from the two research methods
- Add in limitations

Project recommendation
- Suggest creative project that can be carried out
- OR suggest relevant academic research

Acknowledgments
- Length and contents is completely up to you

Page numbering
- Separate into 3 word files
- PDF the 3 word files and merge them
- Cover page without page numbering
- Abstract, Acknowledgement and Contents in roman numerals
- Introduction to Appendices in arabic numbers

Week 9
- Go with Concept 1: Minimalism as it has already been an established theme since DRM
- Can include a lot more visuals that showcases the calming and zen vibes of tea
- Good choice of using Montserrat fonts for headings, subheadings and body text.
- Concept 2: Line Art is a little too cluttered and complicated if combined with a lot of text.

Week 10
- Idea chosen works well with theme of research
- Go with Book Cover Var3 as the cover design as it has good balance and emphasis on title
- Book Var2 seems too confined by green border
- Book Var1 may be too bare at the top
- Images are well chosen
- Consistent in terms of alignment

Week 11
- Indicate that the images are applied to the questions below
- Summarise the survey sharing process into 1 page, 3 paragraphs
- Make the question's font size smaller
- Check that the size of the image on the header is the same height
- Include all of the tables of answers, but make the font size smaller
- Allowed to use infographics and demographics from DRM slides

Week 12
- Reduce line spacing between the RQs and ROs
- Put the visual analysis study elements into 1 paragraph
- Include a 1 liner to justify why the three brands were chosen
- Continue to describe the questions included in the survey for Methodology
- State how long the survey was open and how many respondents
- Work on findings and discussion

Week 13
- Add subheadings for the different design elements in Findings and Discussion
- Add data from the survey for each design element
- Add in screenshots of the survey and qualitative answers into Appendices
- Only include the references for the citations found in the KREATE paper

REFLECTIONS

Experience
While working on this module, it really brought me back to my sleepless days when I was doing Design Research Methodology. Since I have already gone through the tiring process once, I thought I would be able to endure it this time too. Surprisingly, it was not that tiring for this module, maybe because I already knew what I had to do. Most of the time I was typing away until midnight and when it was finally time to submit, I was shocked to find out that I have written over 30k words in the document. It was definitely the most that I have written in my entire life, but it was also a very rewarding experience to have done such in-depth research and analysis.

Observations
While I was doing the visual publication design assignment, I tried to make my layout and designs follow the concept of minimalism just like the theme of my research. I realised that choosing the right visuals also plays a big role because sometimes it can make or break the overall design of the book. Searching for the most suitable minimalist visuals was actually quite time-consuming. Since it was about minimalism, I tried to look for visuals with cleaner backgrounds and subtle colours that suggest the soothing vibe of drinking tea.

Findings
I find that this module was a lot more fun and interesting because of the Visual Design Publication. It was a long but enjoyable process of formatting and designing the layouts so that they look presentable. Just rearranging the tables of answers alone took me a few hours to complete, but seeing the amount of responses I have collected made me feel accomplished and proud that I have come so far. As for the final dissertation, I was really worried about the plagiarism rate since I had a lot more content covered. It was a surprise to me when I saw the results of my report only 4%. Thankfully, I had gone through my document a few days before submission and paraphrased wherever necessary again just in case the results percentage was high. All in all, I am so glad that I have reached the end of the module with great research done. It has not only broadened my knowledge about the concept of minimalism, but also about consumer perceptions and importance of the different design elements.
